Tod Marcus EA

My name is Tod A Marcus, and I’m an EA.

I’m in my 50s now (where does the time go?) and I have been preparing taxes since I was a teenager helping my father, who is a CPA.

I care greatly for my clients and I will give you my best.

What is an EA?

EA stands for “Enrolled Agent”. It is an  elite status and the highest credential awarded by the IRS.

Enrolled agents have unlimited practice rights before the IRS, just like CPAs and attorneys.

EAs can be verified on the IRS website here (opens in a new tab).

Expat Taxes Prepared Online – How it Works

First, ask us for a quote. We will ask you some questions to give us a chance to listen to your specific tax needs. Everything will remain private.

Once we know enough about your expat tax situation, we will provide an estimate and our terms. If you review those and wish to proceed, just let us know. There is no obligation to continue with us and we encourage you to shop around a bit.

If you decide to proceed, we will send our engagement letter. For new clients, we require a retainer for half of the estimate to begin the work. The rest of our bill will be sent on delivery of the tax return for your review and signature.

We will send you some very simple organizers so you know exactly what information we need.

For example, in these organizers, we will ask things like “what were your United States travel dates for the year”. We use that info to analyze the use of the foreign earned income exclusion, as applicable. We also need that info to actually prepare the exclusion forms if we claim it.

We will send you a link to our portal (by Citrix Systems) to upload you information securely.

Once we have your information, it usually takes us 1-2 weeks to prepare your taxes.

Please note: During the weeks before the major deadlines, our turn around time may stretch to 3 weeks.

Sorry, but we can’t do things at the last minute for you. We are a popular little firm and within 3 weeks to the deadlines, we are usually already committed to other clients.

When your taxes are done, we will securely send you a copy to review. If it looks good, you can “click to sign”. Once we receive your signatures and payment, we will e-file, and your taxes are done for the year.

Click here to contact us for a quote now, or let us know if you have any specific questions or concerns.
